Anita Loos - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Gentlemen Marry Brunettes

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Gentlemen Marry Brunettes are the two books which are written by Anita Loos and were published in 1925 and in1927 respectively.

These books are the diaries which are written by Lorelei Lee, a pretty flapper who is living it up in the 1920s. To give an idea about the books here is the subtitle “Diary of a Professional Lady”.

“Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” is a diary of a lady and her day-to-day life, the relationships with various men, her trip to Europe and her getting married. She is very funny in her writings and she is striving for intellectual knowledge and loves to learn things. She thinks she is educated and fairly high-class, which makes her social gaffes even funnier. She is very likable. The adventures and the interpretation of how the world works and what men are for explained by Lorelei are very interesting.

And “Gentlemen Marry Brunettes” is again a dairy by Lorelei, which tells the story of her friend, which doesn’t seemed to be as interesting as the first. Anita Loos got the idea to write these books when she noticed that all the men around her were falling over the blonde in the room and paying no attention to her, a brunette, even though she was pretty and intelligent.

I married the Eiffel Tower seems to be a weird thing to claim, but then Erika really does go around claiming that "I married the Eiffel Tower" which would seem beyond normal for ordinary people, but for Objectum - Sexual who make love to objects like the Golden Gate Bridge, Eiffel Tower and even the Berlin Wall simply gives them the self-actualization that they seek.

For example, an American woman Naisho stated that she loved Golden Gate Bridge and it loves her back. This mutual love for things has brought her to become a Gold medalist archer because she was once in love with her bow. And now it even gets much weirder as Naisho proclaimed she doesn't like the bow or the bridge anymore. As she's in love with a French masterpiece she even proudly declares that "I married the Eiffel Tower"!

Roman Goddesses And Valentine Celebrations

Valentine's Day celebration started at the time of Roman. February 14th was a holiday to Juno in the ancient time.

Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. She was known as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.

At that time the lives of boys and girls were separate and strict. However, one of the customs of the young people was name drawing. On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man would draw a girl's name from the jar and would then be partners for the duration of the festival with the girl whom he chose. Sometimes the pairing of the children lasted an entire year, and often, they would fall in love and would later marry.

Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off. He suffered martyrdom on the 14th day of February, about the year 270. At that time it was the custom in Rome, a very ancient custom, indeed, to celebrate in the month of February the Lupercalia, feasts in honour of a heathen god. On these occasions, amidst a variety of pagan ceremonies, the names of young women were placed in a box, from which they were drawn by the men as chance directed.

The pastors of the early Christian Church in Rome endeavoured to do away with the pagan element in these feasts by substituting the names of saints for those of maidens. And as the Lupercalia began about the middle of February, the pastors appear to have chosen Saint Valentine's Day for the celebration of this new feast. So it seems that the custom of young men choosing maidens for valentines, or saints as patrons for the coming year, arose in this way.

Saint Valentine is not the only name in town when it comes to affairs of the heart.
In the Voodoo Pantheon, there is an important group of female loa (goddesses) whose first name is Erzulie. While all of them share in their role as Goddess of love, art, and sex, each has additional areas of life which is theirs to defend and assist. Erzulie is three in aspect: she can be Erzulie Freda, a virgin goddess likened to the Virgin Mary; Erzulie Dantor, loa of jealousy and passion; or La Siren, a personification of the sea and goddess of motherhood. Her color is pink, her animal a white dove. She is associated with the Lukumi Orisha Oshun, and sometimes Chango (as Erzulie Dantor).

Helen Fisher - "Why Him? Why Her?"

Helen Fisher one of the lading experts of the romantic love and anthropologist has renewed her collection with "Why Him? Why her?" which tells you whether you are attracted to a person in your first meet or not, whether you admit the law of attraction or not.

The expert says that if you are single you're intrigued; if you are happily involved with someone then you are careful. She also adds that the compatibly depends upon the status, the life conditions and the personality has to match with each other. After lots of research with the literature Fisher says that there are 4 types of chemicals that play the leading role in who we are, the two type of sex hormones, testosterone and estrogen, neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin.

She says everything is chemical and everything is physical. You have to know every single thing in your life is chemical and then you have to enjoy the feel of it as well. Dr Fisher says "To me, understanding the system expands my wonder. In the wild, all animals are attracted to some other animals and really uninterested in or repelled by others - too old, too young, too scruffy. With the evolution of humanity, it became more refined and more profound and led to a phenomenon we call romantic love."
